$210/hour plus directorship stipend
Physician sought to provide ED coverage and directorship oversight to growing, profitable hospital. Volumes for 2013 were approximately 17,000, which comes out to about 24 patients per 12.5 hour shift. A separate walk-in clinic is one site and staffed by a NP or PA from 9 AM until 9 PM. Single coverage in the ED with a one hour overlap at the end of the shift.

Excellent relationships with tertiary hospitals for transfers with the most common transfer going to hospital in Petoskey, MI. Excellent specialist support available and growing, including psychiatry. Trauma team available and required to be on-site within 20 minutes.
Brand new emergency department scheduled to be finished in August of 2014 with 18 rooms. Private call/sleep room available. Full benefits except for PTO.
Hospital is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. This Upper Peninsula community is the 3rd oldest city in the United States. With a population of 17,500, Sault Ste. Marie is an area that continues to grow and thrive. Located just across the International Bridge is Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario with a population of 85,000. The twin Saults offer extensive opportunities for shopping, cultural events and tremendous recreational activities. Hospital is a 55 bed, non-profit hospital that employs more than 800 individuals and has experienced tremendous growth over the past eight years. Hospital serves the eastern Upper Peninsula and surrounding area patient base of 55,000. A new behavioral health center opened in October of 2007. An addition to the radiology area was completed in October of 2008 with a fixed base MRI unit and a 64 slice CT scanner. Digital mammography is another wonderful feature of our radiology department. A 30,000 square foot therapy facility opened in May of 2008, with a rehab pool, track and state-of-the-art equipment. Construction on a new medical office building was completed in September of 2010. Construction of an overhead walkway which will connect the parkings structure, new medical office building and the hospital is scheduled to begin in August of 2011. The walkway will be tied in with a new registration, admitting and main entrance. An addition to the emergency department will begin in the spring of 2012 along with renovation of the existing department. This construction will more than double the size of the emergency department. Hospital offers services in OB/GYN, med/surg, ICU, cardiology, long term care, walk-in clinic, oncology/infusion, dialysis, ER, pharmacy, rehab, lab and radiology.
