Sandalwood Systems Engineering interns will join a growing team of Data Analysts, Facilitators, Engineers, & Program Management professionals. Each intern will work with fellow Sandalwoodians to assess and reduce our clients' program, product, employee, manufacturing, and supply chain risks.


Successful candidates will have the following attributes:

  • A qualified professional manner and appearance, and outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal, organizational skills and competent customer facing representation
  • University coursework completed in Engineering or other related discipline, with a working knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems
  • Experience in business communication, including giving formal presentations, creating reports and professional documents
  • Ability to establish priorities, work both independently and in teams

Responsibilities:

  • Interns will be provided a project (or projects) for the duration of their term with Sandalwood
  • Interns will be responsible to develop a Project Charter, which will include timing and expected deliverables
  • Interns will be expected to provide weekly reports as to the status of their project
  • Interns will be assigned a peer mentor to answer questions and provide direction
  • At the end of the term, interns will present the results of their project to both the client and Sandalwood management



Potential Projects may include:

  • Working with an external IT firm to develop data management/reporting solutions
  • Developing a virtual manufacturing simulation
  • Collaborating with a non-profit organization to improve productivity, develop operator work instructions and/or business processes
  • Creating various Continuous Improvement projects utilizing DMAIC and Agile techniques

Requirements

  • Understand client facing work and business through hands-on participation
  • Participate in knowledge creation and transfer within Sandalwood and with clients
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Experienced in data gathering and analysis
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically MS Excel & PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills, must be able to manage time-sensitive assignments
  • Relevant internship, work experience and/or involvement with a professional organization
